Hela havet stormar

The Raging Sea

2026 will be unlike any other year in the history of the Konstmuseet. Together with artists, the museum will focus on creative processes, workshops, and socially engaged art – challenging conventional ideas of what an art museum is and can be.

When most people hear the word ›art,‹ they probably think of painting, sculpture, printmaking, or drawing. Today, however, the field of art is far broader. For a long time, there has been art that is entirely experience-based, where the artist creates a situation that you, as a viewer, experience or participate in in the here and now. This type of art is now taking centre stage at the Konstmuseet.

Over the course of nine months, around 50 artists from across the globe will be invited for both long and short residencies – all with the goal of creating art together with you, the visitors. You might wish to work alongside an artist yourself, or simply observe and take part – this is precisely what Hela havet stormar is all about. Like a ship laden with experiences and opportunities to engage with art in a slightly different way.
