Introduction and practical workshop with Fika
Friday 18.09. | 16:30 -18:00 @Konstmuseet
Forró is a social dance and music tradition from the north-east of Brazil, especially rooted in rural regions of Pernambuco and beyond. It carries the warmth of gatherings, migration stories and everyday life, shaped by accordion melodies, driving rhythms and close human connection.
The session begins with a short introduction to its cultural background and musical structure — including the roles of accordion, zabumba drum and triangle. We then move into a practical workshop: participants explore basic steps, partner connection and simple turns that define the flowing, intimate character of Forró. No previous experience is required.
The workshop closes with a shared Fika — a quiet moment to arrive, exchange and let the movement resonate.
Open to all. No prior knowledge required.
