A participatory project about encounters, music and shared stories in Skövde. Come by, listen, talk, drink coffee, and — if you like — become part of the project.

»That Hug« is a participatory art project developed during my residency in Skövde. It brings together people with different backgrounds through music, dance, language and video.

Three dance workshops – Maracatu, Frevo and Forró – are part of the project and become a starting point for a collective music video. I am looking for participants who would like to dance, sing, play an instrument or simply take part in creating the work. A band, a music group or individual musicians from Skövde are very welcome to join.

Together we will write a text in different languages, develop the music, rehearse the dances and gradually build the video. The filming will take place in different locations around Skövde, bringing the project out of the museum and into the city.

At the centre of »That Hug« is a simple idea: people who may not know each other meet, create something together and become part of the same image, rhythm and story.
