Anette Kaplan

Anette Kaplan (1968, Ludwigshafen) explores gender discrimination and violence against women in her interdisciplinary practice, focusing on objects and painting. She studied art history, architectural history, and philosophy at the University of Karlsruhe before earning a degree in graphic design from the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz in 1997. In 2012, she deepened her artistic practice at the Städel-Abendschule in Frankfurt am Main, followed by training as a therapeutic art teacher at Campus Naturalis (2012–2014).

In 2024, she gave lectures on social sustainability, with a focus on discrimination against women. Her work transforms inequality and marginalization into artistic expression, balancing lightness and weight. Transparency plays a central role, reflecting the tension between personal experience and societal structures. She works with materials such as clay, textiles, and handmade paper.
