Paul Hirsch (1958, Niedermohr) initially studied computer science in the 1970s, later in the 2010s he graduated in philosophy and received a PhD in philosophy and art theory. Complemented by  fine arts education studies in the European Art Academy, Trier, he always has been working as a sculptor. Hirsch‘s artistic interests focus on the direct interaction with the audience. In most of his works and installations the beholder might take an active role, so that he becomes in some cases even a co-author.

The oscillation between the philosophy-related aspects and the archaic materials and forms he makes use of, question the interplay between identity and flexibility. This creates a dynamic space where the artist‘s authorship and the viewer›s interpretation blend in a unique and interactive way. Living in Weiterstadt and Frankfurt Hirsch works as a freelance artist since 2002.
